Today went better than Wednesday, largely because (a) it was shorter and (b) I didn’t spend 90% of it walking or standing. I feel reasonably good about how things went, all things considered—and certainly better than I did yesterday morning, when I was both tired and in one of those depressed moods.
I think the bar is now set pretty high, at least if the dimensions that appear to matter to this department and university are the ones on which this position will be filled. But we will see; it is early days yet.

Good luck with all this. I’m a relatively new reader of your blog and, coincidentally, am in a very similar situation to yourself. I’m a non-tenure track assistant professor in political science (comparative) with a Ph.D. from an institution that doesn’t exactly scream “pedigreed” and hopes for a tenure track job this year. A lot of fun, this job market, isn’t it?
Oh, it’s a blast. ☺
Good luck; something tells me you’ll be a Billiken for a while. It could be worse; you could be choosing between Marshall or UT-Martin. :-) I’m seriously planning a trip to see Cary in Huntington in February or March. I must see this place!!!
I may have to tag along… or maybe I’ll just go see the movie and leave it at that :p
Good luck. Glad you feel positive.
