26-23

Great, another game the Rebels could have won if they’d just played a little better down the stretch. This trend is starting to get annoying—and I’m probably more annoyed at the outcome of this game because it wasn’t a blowout like I expected it to be.

Instead of defending the play down the stretch (the defense was out of gas, simple as that, but still made a couple key stops) and BJGE hurting his shoulder definitely mattered, I’ll ask why you thought it would be a blowout? Ole Miss is better than the 4 teams Bama had beaten. There was no way that spread should have been that high.

Mainly because that’s what always seems to happen (at least in recent years) in Tuscaloosa.

I think the main thing that bugged me was bad play by the defense on third down in the second half and OT. The offense finally seems to be working, although the lack of Dexter McCluster showed.

A better D-Line would have won us the game. Rory Johnson and Patrick Willis combined for THIRTY tackles. That’s great, but you don’t want your linebackers to have that many tackles. You’re right, continuing to allow them to convert 3rd downs really hurt us (they were 9–16). Toward the end of the week, I started thinking we really had a chance to keep it close and maybe eek out a win. Truth was we had more than a chance, we had the game won and managed to give it away.
