The good news and the bad news

Ole Miss–Alabama will be on national TV this Saturday on CBS (presumably in glorious 1080i HD). My inner cheapskate is happy, but the part of my brain that is aware of the Rebels’ abysmal record in Tuscaloosa isn’t—even though Alabama’s record this season isn’t that great in league play either.

As of right now, I think we have a chance in this game and we’ll at least cover the spread; hopefully, by gametime, I’ll have come back to reality and realize we are 1–23980234890234 all time in Tuscaloosa. Who knows, it might be time for a repeat of the 1988 game where we held Bama to something like -14 total yards.

 

+14.5 does seem a bit generous to me, particularly after holding Georgia to 14 total. But there’s a reason I don’t bet on sports…
