Ed—I hope you don’t seriously think Ole Miss is in the position to fire a coach after year 2 of what will be a 4–5 year rebuilding process (until we get to that 7–9 win stage)? We currently have just shy of 70 scholarship players. The NCAA lets you play with 85. Do the math. We have 74 freshman and sophmores on our roster, out of about 110 total players. Again, do the math. We start 3 or 4 seniors. Hell, Patrick Willis, wasn’t even a starter under Cutcliffe during a 4–7 season. Come April, he’ll be cashing a mighty nice signing bonus check.
