Memo to Apple

My Nokia Bluetooth headset will pair with my Mac mini, but Skype won’t do audio in or out through it when it’s set to use the headset in the preferences pane. I spent 15 minutes fighting with it to no avail. So much for stuff “just working” with the Mac.

Probably useless advice, but here goes. Did you set the audio in and out to the bluetooth device in the systerm preferences? Not in the skype settings, but the mac system preferences.

I had the same issue as you when I plugged in a usb headset to my mac.

I would be interested to know if you can get it to work; I was just ordering a bluetooth headset for skyping with my powerbook. But maybe not now…

I’ll give that a shot and see if it works.

The motorola HS850 works with Skype on my G4 15 inch aluminum powerbook. As I recall, it wasn’t as automatic as plugging in a new digital camera and launching iPhoto, but it wasn’t too hard either. I do recall playing with the Sound prefs pane…note also that if you have the Bluetooth icon on your menu bar, it changes appearance when it’s handshaking properly with the headset.
