Ostertag retires, world shrugs

Utah Jazz player Greg Ostertag has decided to call it quits after 11 seasons in the NBA. Since my only lasting impression of Ostertag is that his name always struck me as likely to be the German word for “slow, untalented white guy” I for one won’t be missing him. Matter of fact, I think today was the first time I realized he was still in the association this season.

At least we still have Darko and Kwame to kick around…

“slow, untalented white guy”

And thans to DSPN, we’ll have the original slow, untalented white guy posterchild to provide salient commentary on college hoops.

Seriously, in the current Duke lax legal media frenzy, who better to ask for an in depth analysis of the current situation than that journalist/lawyer/duke basketball alumn, Jay Bilas?

Chris, have you reached out? Tell him his homeboys from Palos Verdes have his back!

OK – in honor of Ostertag – we need to ask for one more replay of Shaq’s famous bitch slap.

The last time I paid any attention to the Jazz, MJ was in the league and was in the process of beating them in the playoffs.

“I realized if I couldn’t play for this team, there aren’t many I can play for.” Hmm, that’s a lovely parting shot. Sounds like one of his best shots of the season if he’s averaging 2.5 ppg. The NBA just won’t be the same without people dunking on Postertag.

Kwame and Darko are both turning their careers around. One of them might actually average double digits in points next year…
