I didn’t read Jack Bauer’s Bidet yesterday, but it’s looking eerily prescient today:
Q: How do you tell the difference between one New England Establishment Pretty-Boy and another New England Establishment Pretty-Boy three weeks after you meet them?
A: You can’t.

Close enough, geez! Hell, this morning the media couldn’t even ID the 2 arrestees correctly at first (another player entirely, a co-captain, was named as one of the arrested players for a good hour or so until the local media corrected it… and I think the mis-ID even was started by the Duke Chronicle (who you’d think could tell students apart)!!!). So blaming the alleged victim for getting it wrong, well, I mean, if the media can’t do it right at first, why should she? I say the DA should drop these charges, reconvene the Grand Jury, and indict two NEW lacrosse players based on additional, do-over IDs! Eventually they might get the right guy!
I didn’t realize there was a provision for “do-over IDs.” There may be hope for Nifong yet… :)
Well, there’s not, but what the hell. It will be interesting to hear the methodology of the ID in this case… was the alleged victim shown an undergrad facebook, a poster of the lacrosse players, photos of the lacrosse players interspersed with foils (i.e. photos of non-suspects who fit the general description—white, male, 19–20, athletic build), or what? What if she was shown only lacrosse players? If that turns out to be the case (another big IF), boy oh boy, talk about another amazing twist!
