Racist runs radio ads

On WEGR Rock 103 this morning, I heard an ad that began with a slight variation on the standard disclaimer: “I’m James Hart, and I approve this message for white workers.” The speaker then launched into an anti-NAFTA protectionist screed.

James Hart is a racist, a eugenics advocate, and also the Republican candidate for Congress in Tennessee's 8th district, which includes parts of Shelby County and the city of Memphis.

I first blogged about him back in August, when he was the only Republican candidate in the primary. Tennessee Republican leaders didn’t field a candidate, since the 8th is considered a safe district for Democrat John Tanner.

I bet they wish they had.

(I assume that WEGR could not legally refuse to run this disgusting ad, and so bears no blame for this.)

I blogged on this. Dig around in the archives for Hart’s name; at least two posts, including “The Last on Hart” which excoriated the local Republicans for making such an elementary error. I got a furious email response from the local Republican chair (forget his name; he all but asked me to step outside) who simply refused to accept any responsibility. Just putting a name on the ballot would have saved them tremendous grief and embarrassment. He didn’t see it that way. I always meant to put his email up on the blog for others to read, but never got around to it before I closed shop. It’s a doozy.

As for Hart; yeah, his ads can run unchallenged. He did the exact same thing in 2000, also on Rock103. He’s not a candidate, but takes advantage of the legal hole to put his racist views out unfiltered and uncensored. There’s some question of his actual residence, as his business address is somewhere in Eastern Kentucky. One can only hope the idiot Republicans remember him in 2008 and avert another stupid mistake.

James Hart – Favorite candidate of Khan Noonien Singh.

Sorry, can’t help but think of Khan whenever I see the word “eugenics”.

What, you don’t think of Arik Soong? Manny Coto would be disappointed…

Man, Spiner did some major scenery chewing last week. Can’t wait to see how this plays out. They’re doing the whole Klingons-hating-the-Federation thing 25 years too early though (2193 vs 2218). I am such a nerd.
