I now have two phone interviews scheduled for next Monday for tenure-track jobs. That, for those keeping score at home, is two more phone interviews than I got last year.
That said, I despise phone interviews with a passion.

Yes, they suck—but having two phone interviews certainly beats having none.
Good luck!
Congratulations…and good luck. Start practicing your professorial phone voice now. And if you land a tenure-track position, we’ll have to celebrate with a large piece of pecan pie with vanilla ice cream (again)! ;)
Good Luck Dr. Lawrence! We really miss you at Millsaps! Come back soon!
Good luck. I’m not so non-plussed by the phone interview, as it allows you to establish a positive impression without all the extra “intangibles” that can come with a face-to-face. To me, there’s not as much high drama involved. Then, if the phoner goes well, the face-to-face seems less intimidating. But that’s just me. I like interviewing. I wish I could get to the interview stage all of the time. I’m sick that way.
Regardless, my thoughts are with you and I hope for the best. Who knows, perhaps you’ll have good news to celebrate in Atlanta!
