Run for the border

I’m very happy to announce to all of my readers that I’ve accepted a tenure-track position as an assistant professor of political science in the Department of Social Sciences at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas beginning in the fall. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to teach and conduct research at one of America’s newest universities in a dynamic, rapidly-changing community.

Perhaps most happily, I won’t be getting there until well after all the politicians leave town!

Praise Flying Spaghetti Monster!

It will be so much more satisfying to take that bird in the hand, rip its head off, and suck out its entrails than to wonder about those flutterings in the bush!

Congrats, we’ve enjoyed Texas since we moved here about 7 months ago. You’ll be just down the road from us on I-35.

Yea! Yea! Yea! You are bound to become an honorary Texan and should love it down there. The valley is awesome. And we’ll stop by to visit on our way to Monterrey! Heck, you could come down to visit us in Monterrey this summer—we should have an extra room. Very exciting stuff. Not to mention all the great Mexican, Tex-Mex, and REAL barbecue you can eat!!! [sorry…it’s what I miss most sometimes….]

Real barbecue? Them’s fightin’ words.

Oh, really big congratulations to you, wandering scholar.

Do not purchase pointy boots and a a big hat for a while, however.

Now, if I can just get the PhD candidate pair, darling stepson and the darling step-daughter-in-law graduated and on the road….

well, that’s 18 months down the road.
