Cox blows its chance at $22 (or more)

I found out last night that the faculty party I was planning to attend tonight was cancelled due to a family illness, so today I was left with the choice of whether to use my ticket to see Tulane play Houston or stay home tonight to listen to Ole Miss play Vanderbilt on XM. Then I found out the game is on pay-per-view… but apparently there’s no way for me to order it, since Cox’s sales office is closed after 5 on Saturday, the website only lets you sign up for a season subscription, Cox doesn’t give me access to ESPN360, and the stupid cable box Cox gave me doesn’t show it as a pay-per-view event.

So I’ll be listening on XM 232 instead, and Cox just blew its chance to sell me the game (or upsell me to the GamePlan season package).

You came out ahead. Allen, Annie, and I have a $416 hotel bill to forward to one Coach O. Take that back, we got 20% knocked off b/c the water in the tub at the Holiday Inn on the Vandy campus continued running while we had the shower thing up. It’s a wonder Annie didn’t drown.

$416!?! Dear lord.

Then again, I’m probably going to spend about the same on gas to see Ole Miss as 23-point underdogs at home this weekend, which has got to be some sort of record for the Rebels.

$179 per night X 2 nights divided by us and Allen isn’t too bad. Once they gave us the discount, it was like $160 per person, not bad for being literally 50 yards from the stadium.

I’m really surprised at that spread. It started at 20, I think. I know Florida won’t intentionally run the score up b/c there is no need to, but, at the same time, we’ve still got to stop them.

Coach O said tonight we’re going to start tackling differently. Granted I never played defense, but as far as I know, there is only one way to tackle. Maybe this new method will be the one where you grind in with your opposite shoulder and force the player to the ground.

Guess I’ll see you Saturday; we’re hoping to be there ~10.
