I belatedly took the advice of Frequent Commenter Scott and changed the photo on my professional page while I was doing my regular updates. It’s not quite this casual, but I do have to maintain at least a modicum of dignity.

I can send you some very casual ones of you from the wedding where at least you’re wearing a tie.
Hey, that pic loogs great! The info on your “professional page” says you’re, well, professional. The casual, outdoor-sy photo says, “I am well rounded in other aspects of my life.”
Heck, they KNOW they’ll see you in a tie at an interview. You certainly don’t seem aloof in that photo…...
Alfie: I’d love to see your wedding pictures… although I doubt any of them involving me should ever be seen in public!
As for the photo I chose… all it appears to say is that I squint. But the Rockies look nice in the background.
You’re right…I can hear it now:
“Wow this guy looks great on paper….he bowled us over in the phone interview….I’m going to click on his web page while you call him and tell him to book a flight for an on-campus inter…OH MY GOD! Hang up! HANG UP!!! Look at this picture! He’s a ‘squinter!’ We can’t hire a f#%*ing squinter!”
Better they find out on the website than when they see me in person. ☺
