I am finally on the return leg of the grand roadtrip—I have one more day in Memphis before I finally get back home to butt-numbingly cold St. Louis. I enjoyed my visit to New Orleans. Both of my SPSA panels went well, although they were, alas, lightly attended; I am certainly more confident about the publication prospects for the paper, although now it needs a blog nickname—perhaps “the damn measurement paper” will suffice.
I also enjoyed catching up with Steven, Dieter (the rock upon whom ICPSR is built), Andrew (all too briefly), and Kelly.

Cold? Last I checked, it’s 38 degrees at 7 am. You have such an amusing notion of cold.
Hey man! I’m sorry I didn’t get the chance to spend some time with you while we were down there. I was getting some great feedback on a paper when you walked by and then I had to meet up with a coauthor for a panel right after lunch. Let me know next time you’re down this way…the beer’s on me.
Brian: I wasn’t born with a permanent coat of fur, unlike you northerners. ☺
Andrew: Dangerous offer, I might take you up on it. Are you going to Midwest?
Yeah, I’ll be at the Midwest this year. Now, when I said “the beer is on me”, I used “beer” in the singular, not the plural. ;-)
Btw, that room we were in was pretty strange. The map on the program showed that it was located on the 11th Floor of the Pan-American Convention Center (right next to the hotel). Me and some other presenters went up there and had to be retrieved by someone to show us where the room was “really” located. I suppose we should have seen the handwritten paper note taped beside the “correct” room, but a correction in the program would have been nice, as well.
