Here’s a big shocker, I know:
What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland
“You have a Midland accent” is just another way of saying “you don’t have an accent.” You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio. |

A minor disclaimer: I tend to use a weird mix of formal speech and Southern colloquialisms in everyday conversation, so I do have my Southern “moments” when speaking, but if I avoid Southern terms (primarily “y’all”) I pretty much sound like Tom Brokaw.

Hey, how did you come to be so Midland (I’m assuming you were born in or near Memphis; correct me if I’m wrong)?
I’m even more Midland than you (yes, it’s possible), but I come by it honestly, since I was born/raised/lived most of my life in Missouri.
I took the test and it said I have a Northeast accent. I think not…
Curious to read your response to Len.
Add me to the ranks of those doubting the efficacy of this “test.” I came up REALLY southern and pretty western….so it decided I have a “Midland” accent.
hmm. I have no idea where that “western” thing came from. I’ve never lived outside the South and as Chris could attest, I’d likely spontaneously combust if I ever tried.
Len: Not a clue how I came by my accent; It’s possible I got it by watching television, since people in Ocala (for the most part) don’t speak Midland.
Seems like a cruddy quiz.
