Edged out

Colts HB Edgerrin James has signed a free-agent deal to play for the Arizona Cardinals, which will probably either (a) put the Cardinals back on the NFL map or (b) relegate James to football oblivion. Given that decent backs are dime-a-dozen in the contemporary NFL, my money is more on option b.

More important, to me, is the loss of Antwaan Randle El who went from the Steelers to Washington. A very versatile player who was key in the Steelers’ ability to execute gadget plays. It sucks.

OTOH, they do play in the NFC west with the Rams and 49ers, so that’s 4 winnable games right there.
