Easier decisions

The news that the Duke-UNC game is available in high-definition on ESPNHD, but will be blacked out in Durham in favor of Jefferson Pilot’s craptacular standard definition broadcast (which, no doubt, will be poorly upconverted to HD on our CBS affiliate), has tipped the balance in favor of me watching House on Fox (in HD) at 9 rather than via TiVo delay.

This is one of those days I wish I were a Nielsen family.

Just so you know to be hacked off, I surfed passed ESPNHD a little while a ago and the game looked terrific.

BTW, which TV did you end up getting?

Actually, it was the Kentucky-Tennessee game, now that I think about it. But idid look fantastic.

Yes, the Ky-Tenn game did look nice.

I ended up with the Westinghouse LTV-27w2. It had the twin advantages of being only $699 at BB when I bought it and being about the largest 16:9 TV that would fit in my entertainment center.

Incidentally, I saw today that apparently ESPN didn’t get the broadcast in HD either—JP can’t be bothered to spring for HD cameras, and ESPN just piggy-backed on their feed (with their own announcers).
