The State Politics and Policy section assigns discussants to each poster at APSA. The discussant then comes and talks one on one with the author. In my opinion, it really works well, so much so that I would almost rather give a poster for SPP at APSA. It’s more work for the section program organizer, but I wonder why some other sections don’t do the same.

He assigned individual discussants to each poster for a 1 on 1, and also used some section funds for a wine & cheese reception. It was incredibly well attended and really a great experience.
